why we do it

About the Bay Frog Open

More than just the sum of its parts, the Bay Frog Open is about awareness, patriotism, community, and fun. Join us for two days of events July 21-22, 2024—meet Navy SEALs and other VIPs, including special operations veterans and former NHL superstars. Be part of the camaraderie as we raise money to support military, first responders, and their families as a way of doing our part to thank these men and women for being the ones to run toward danger, not away from it.

Proceeds benefit Uncommon Grit Foundation.

Founded in spring of 2020, the mission of Uncommon Grit Foundation (UGF) is to raise awareness and increase community support for military veterans, first responders, and their families in recognition and thanks for their service and sacrifice to our country.

The Bay Frog Open will benefit Uncommon Grit Foundation, with a percentage of the funds staying local to Western Pennsylvania. Proceeds from these kinds of events have allowed UGF to elevate the work of vetted nonprofits such as Pittsburgh Warriors, Leashes of Valor, One More Wave, Heart of a Lion Foundation, New York Hero’s Fund, Throw Away Dogs Project, Operation Healing Forces, C4 Foundation, and more. UGF has also been able to assist families and individuals directly to help cover costs related to TBI and PTSD treatment, injury, or loss of a loved one.

Your support will allow us to expand our reach to include more organizations, and in turn, support more individuals who have served for the greater good.
