Bay Frog Open One-Mile Swim

In the tradition of the Erie Bay Swim that was held from 2008-2017, Uncommon Grit Foundation hosted its third annual Bay Frog Open one-mile open-water swim, which featured some of the region’s finest swimmers. Athletes were accompanied by former Navy SEALs and special operations veterans as we raised money for our nation’s service men and women. In 2025, proceeds from the Bay Frog Open allowed us to donate $29,000 to the Erie DAV/VA—closing the gap on funding for a new wheelchair-accessible van to transport veterans.

The 2026 swim will be held on Father’s Day, June 21. Registration will open soon.

With over 100 swimmers, beautiful weather (even if the water kept things interesting 🌊), and incredible energy from start to finish, this event reminded us what it means to show up with purpose. We're proud to stand alongside each of you in support of our nation’s military, veterans, and first responders.

This is a non-competitive event and all swimmers will receive a finisher medal.

Cost

$100 Per Swimmer

$90 Per Erie Triathlon Club Member

$75 Per Active Duty Military or Veteran Swimmer

$75 Per Collegiate Swimmer (college ID shown the day of the swim)

Swimmers receive:

  • Custom swim buoy* with event logo (*due to safety concerns, buoys are mandatory to participate in this event)

  • Custom swim cap

  • Custom towel

  • Event t-shirt

  • Post-swim breakfast and refreshments at the Erie Yacht Club

  • Finisher medal
